A quick bread made with less sugar. If you leave the choc chips out, the calories count goes down to 71

Recipe Ingredients for Banana Nut Bread

2 tablespoons butter
1/2 c sugar
1/4 c applesauce
3 egg whites
2 c mashed bananas
1 2/3 c wheat flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c chopped walnuts
1/2 c chopped pecans

Recipe Directions for Banana Nut Bread

  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom only of load pan, 8.5x4.5x2.5 or 9x5x3.

  2. Mix the sugar and butter in 2.5 quart bowl. Stir in egg whites until blended. Add bananas and applesauce; beat 30 seconds. Stir in remaining ingredients except nuts until moistened; stir in chocolate nuts. Pour into pan.

  3. Bake until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 8-inch loaf 1 1/4 hours, 9-inch loaf 55 to 60 minutes; cool 5 minutes. Loosen sides from pan; remove from pan. Cool completely before slicing. 1 loaf (24 slices)

  4. Do-ahead tip: Wrap and refrigerate no longer than 1 week.
