Banana Cream Pie made with homemade vanilla pudding and real bananas.

Recipe Ingredients for Banana Cream Pie

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups 1% milk
3 egg yolks
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 bananas
24 tbsp whipped topping

Recipe Directions for Banana Cream Pie

  1. Combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt in saucepan. Gradually add milk, mixing well. Cook on med-high until thickened, stirring constantly.

  2. Continue cooking for 1 minute then reduce heat.

  3. Stir one third of the hot mixture into the egg yolks. Mix and return egg and milk mixture to pan, adding butter and vanilla.

  4. Cook 1 more minute then remove from heat.

  5. Cover bottom of pie shell with bananas. Put layer of pudding then bananas. Top with whipped topping.

  6. Chill before serving.
