This banana bread is very healthy. It can be eaten as a snack or even as a dessert. It is very low on fat, especially in saturated fat. A downside is that is fairly high in sugar, but if eaten after/with a well balanced meal, along with healthy other meals throughout the day, then this sugar intake should be fine.

Recipe Ingredients for Banana Bread

2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup margarine
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup bananas, mashed

Recipe Directions for Banana Bread

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF.

  2. Mix the sugar, margarine and eggs for 3 minutes. Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, walnuts and mashed bananas.

  3. Grease a regular size loaf pan. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  4. Cool, slice and serve.
