This is a tasty bread that is low in sugar and a healthy choice. I actually used 3T agave nectar instead of brown sugar so the calorie count and sugars are less. Agave wasn't recognized by the data base. I also used a granny smith apple that I peeled, diced and microwaved to make my own sugar free applesauce. Note that if you use agave nectar your bread will be more moist.

Recipe Ingredients for Banana Bread

1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup canola oil
2 large egg whites
1 1/2 cup banana, mashed
1/2 cup applesauce
1 tsp vanilla extract

Recipe Directions for Banana Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat two mini loaf pans with baking spray.

  2. In a small bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.

  3. In a large bowl mix the sugar and oil until well combined. Mix in egg whites, banana and applesauce. Add the flour mixture and stir until just combined.

  4. Pour the batter into the loaf pans. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool on a rack for 5 minutes, then turn out and cool better serving.
