Banana bread from the White House Cookbook

Recipe Ingredients for Banana bread

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 1/2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp salt
3 ripe bananas
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

Recipe Directions for Banana bread

Preheat oven to 350. Grease 2 9x5 inch loaf pans and dust with flour. Cream butter with sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each egg. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Fold into egg mixture. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans, filling each slightly more than half full. Smooth tops with spatula. Bake in oven for 40 minutes, or until top is golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on wire racks before removing from pans.
