Makes 12 servings



1 Loaf of banana bread. Cut into 12 pieces. Serve warm with margarine

Recipe Ingredients for Banana Bread

75 g butter
100 g soft brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 bananas, ripe
225 g self-raising flour
1/2 tsp allspice, ground
1/3 cup walnuts, chopped

Recipe Directions for Banana Bread

  1. Pre heat the oven to 190C/375F

  2. Cream the butter and sugar together in a large bowl until fluffy, then beat in the egg gradually

  3. Add the walnuts (Optional)

  4. Mash the bananas, then stir into the mixture

  5. Fold in the flour, allspice, and salt

  6. Spoon into a greased and lined loaf tin and bake in the centre of the oven for 35-40mins, or until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean

  7. Leave in the tin for a few minutes before turning out to cool on a wire rack

  8. Serve sliced, spread with butter or margarine
