Mix wheat flour, baking powder, salt and ground flaxseed in a medium size bowl. In another bowl mash the bananas by hand or with a mixer. Add the applesauce, rice bran oil and the egg and mix well. Add the baking soda to the buttermilk and then to the banana / applesauce/oi//egg mix. Put wheat bran in with wheat flour, flaxseed mixture and add the liquid. Mix until combined and let stand for five minutes. If it is a little thick add a bit more buttermilk or milk. Bake in a180C or 350F oven for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown and a skewer inserted in the cake comes out clean.
