A quick and easy baked pasta if you make the sauce ahead of time.

Recipe Ingredients for Baked Pasta

Sauce:
1 pound Lean Ground Turkey
1/2 cup Chopped Onion
4 cloves Minced Garlic
1 tsp dried Basil
1 tsp dried Oregano
1/4 cup dried Parsley
1/2 tsp dried Salt
1/4 tsp dried Pepper
28 oz Tomato Puree
15 oz Tomato Sauce
1/2 cup Red Wine

Baked Dish:
1/4 cup Grated Parmesean Cheese
1 lb. Whole Wheat Pasta
15 oz Ricotta Cheese
1 cup Mozzarella Cheese

Recipe Directions for Baked Pasta

  1. For the Sauce:

  2. Brown the ground beef with the onion and garlic in a large saucepan, then drain any excess fat. Remember not to dump it down your sink! I always keep a couple of cleaned cans (from easy stuff to clean like tomato sauce) under my sink and pour any fat into there.

  3. Add the basil, oregano, parsley, salt and pepper and stir in, cooking for another minute or so.

  4. Add the tomato puree, tomato sauce, and wine. Stir in and bring to a simmer. Simmer uncovered for 15 minutes or longer. If it simmers a long time, it might get a bit thick. Add some liquid (more wine or just water) to thin it out a bit but I do think it tastes better if it simmers longer. Makes about 4 cups - 6 cups

  5. For the Baked Pasta:

  6. Cook the Pasta According to package directions:

  7. Combine pasta, Ricotta Cheese, and Meat Sauce.

  8. Put in an ungreased, ovensafe dish and top with mozzarella CHeese, you can also layer the cheese with the pasta mixture.

  9. Cover and Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes, uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until top layer of cheese is golden brown.
