Recipe Ingredients for Baked Onion Rings

1 pound sweet onions
3 egg whites
1 cup dry bread crumbs
2 t dried thyme
1 t salt
1 t paprika
1/4 t pepper

Recipe Directions for Baked Onion Rings

  1. Cut onions into 1/2 inch slices; separate into rings and place in a bowl.

  2. Cover with ice water and soak for 30 minutes. Drain.

  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.

  4. In another bowl, combine bread crumbs, thyme, salt, paprika, and pepper.

  5. Place crumb mixture in a large, resealable plastic bag.

  6. Dip the onions into the egg whites; add to crumb mixture and shake to coat.

  7. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.

  8. Bake at 400 for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned and crisp.
