A simple, traditional Baked Mac & Cheese

Recipe Ingredients for Baked Mac & Cheese

8 oz macaroni
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups milk
2/3 cup of bread crumbs
2 tablespoons butter

Recipe Directions for Baked Mac & Cheese

  1. Preheat oven to 350.

  2. Cook macaroni in salted boiling water until almost soft (al dente). Drain well.

  3. Grease a large shallow casserole and place a layer of macaroni on the bottom, sprinkle with cheese, butter, flour and seasonings. Continue to layer until all ingredients are used evenly in the layers. (3 layers works well)

  4. Pour milk over all. Top with buttered bread crumbs.

  5. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.

  6. Serves 6 to 8

  7. To make buttered crumbs:

  8. Combine 2/3 cup of bread crumbs with 2 tablespoons of softened butter and mix.
