Recipe Ingredients for baked lasagna

8 oz whole wheat lasagna noodles
3/4 lb ground beef, 90% lean
1 small onion
28 oz diced tomatoes, undrained
6 oz tomato paste
1/2 c water
2 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 c 1% cottage cheese
2 tsp dried marjoram
2 c shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/4 c Parmesan cheese, grated

Recipe Directions for baked lasagna

  1. Cook lasagna according to package directions. Meanwhile in a large saucepan, cook beef or turkey and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink;drain if necessary.

  2. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato paste, water, oregano, salt & pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat;cover and simmer for 15 minutes.

  3. In a small bowl, combine cottage cheese and marjoram; set aside. Drain lasagna.

  4. Spread 1/2 c meat sauce in an 9x13 x2 baking dish coated with cooking spray. layer with half of the lasagna, meat sauace and mozarella cheese. Top with cottage cheese mixture. Layer once again ending with mozzarella. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese (dish will be full).

  5. Bake uncovered at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until bubbly and heated through.
