Recipe Ingredients for Baked Italian Sausage Spaghetti Spirals

12 oz spaghetti sauce
16 oz turkey italian sausage
1 green pepper
1/4 onion
4 oz mushrooms
10 oz whole wheat pasta

Recipe Directions for Baked Italian Sausage Spaghetti Spirals

  1. Boil pasta al dente, drain, and return to pot.

  2. Saute sliced sausage and diced onion until the meat is mostly browned. Add diced green pepper. Add any additional seasonings and allow to simmer until the meat is fully cooked.

  3. Drain the meat and vegetables, add to pasta. Add spaghetti sauce. Add other extras such as mushrooms, garlic, olives, etc. Stir and allow to simmer for a few minutes.

  4. Transfer to 9x13in greased baking dish, cover, and bake at 350deg for 25-30 minutes.

  5. *Notes*

  6. - Use one jar of 28oz meatless spaghetti sauce

  7. - Use whole wheat spiral pasta, 5 cups cooked

  8. - Add mozzarella cheese after baking for 25 min, recover, and bake for 5-10 more minutes. This obviously adds significantly more calories.
