Home made Baguette bread made with half white flour, and half whole wheat flour.

Recipe Ingredients for Baguette bread by Rachel

2 1/4 tsp yeast
2 cup flour
2 cup whole wheat flour
2 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 c water, warm

Recipe Directions for Baguette bread by Rachel

  1. Sprinkle yeast over warm water in a bowl and let stand for 15 mins.

  2. After 15 mins, stir yeast and water and add 2 cups of the flour.

  3. Add salt and remaining flour and kneed into a soft, unsticky dough.

  4. In a lightly oiled bowl, cover dough with saran wrap and let rise about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. Roll dough into long loaves and lay on a sprayed baking sheet. Score the tops with a kinfe, brush with water and let rise.

  6. Place a dutch oven of water into and oven and let this sit while you warm the oven to 475 C for about an hour. (This will create the proper humidity in the oven for baking the bread).

  7. Bake bread in the middle rack for 25 - 30 mins.
