A pungently scented hot dip or dressing popular during Lent in Italy's Alpine foothills. (Very high in unsaturated fat and sodium.)

Recipe Ingredients for Bagna Cauda

1 3/4 ounces anchovies
1/4 cup olive oil
5 cloves garlic
4 tbsp smart balance 37% light buttery spread

Recipe Directions for Bagna Cauda

  1. Mince the garlic finely and put all the ingredients into a small pot. Heat over medium heat until everything has melted together, stirring occasionally. Serve hot with any raw vegetables and bread. (Also makes a nice salad dressing.)

  2. Can be stored in the fridge for up to a week. Gets better every time you reheat it.
