homemade bagels, this time with some whole wheat flour included.

Recipe Ingredients for bagels

1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp yeast
1 cup warm water
1 1/2 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for bagels

  1. in 1 cup warm water, add yeast and sugar. Allow to sit until foamy.

  2. mix all flours and salt

  3. add yeast mixture to flour mixture; knead until smooth and shiny

  4. allow dough to relax for 20-30 minutes, then shape into bagel shapes

  5. allow dough to relax for another 20-30 minutes, and get a pot of at least 4 inches of water boiling, with salt or sugar added to the water.

  6. boil each bagel for about 1 minute

  7. drain, and bake in oven at 450 until tasty
