Homemade Mac and Cheese with Bacon

Recipe Ingredients for Bacon Mac and Cheese

1 lb Elbow Macaroni
1 onion
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
2 cups 1% milk
3 cups sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 pound cooked bacon

Recipe Directions for Bacon Mac and Cheese

Cook macaroni according to package until it's al dente. Drain. Melt the butter and add the onion. Cook until the onion is soft. add the flour, salt and pepper to taste, and cook about 2 minutes. Slowly add the milk stirrring and cook until the mixture thickens. ( I don't add the salt, and 1% milk works fine) When the sauce is thickened, add 2 cups of the cheese and stir until melted. Add the sauce to the macaroni, add the bacon until it is well mixed. You might have to add a drop or two of milk so that it isn't too thick. Sprinkle the bread crumbs and the rest of the cheese on top and bake until the crumbs are toasty and the cheese is melted in a 350 oven. Bon apetit!!!
