Recipe Ingredients for Austin Tacos with Refried Beans

1 small onion
1 clove garlic
1 tbs lard
210 g red kidney beans
2 tsp chili powder

Recipe Directions for Austin Tacos with Refried Beans

  1. Chop the onion. Crush the garlic. Heat the oil in a saucepan and saute them until tenderized.

  2. Drain the beans, retaining a little of the liquid in the can, and rinse them. Add them to the sauce pan, along with the a little of the liquid from the can and the chili seasoning. Stir well for a minute or two, then mash the beans with a fork. Continue cooking for a few minutes longer, stirring frequently.

  3. Heat the taco shells. Divide the bean mixture between the 3 shells; top with optional extras and serve immediately.
