added 3 T. melted butter to the batter, different from original recipe.

Recipe Ingredients for Auntie Anne's Copycat Pretzels

1 1/2 cups warm water
1 1/4 tsp yeast
2 T. brown sugar
1 1/8 tsp salt
4 cups white whole wheat flour
3 T. melted butter

Recipe Directions for Auntie Anne's Copycat Pretzels

  1. Mix water and yeast, dissolve.

  2. Add sugar and salt, stir. Add butter, stir.

  3. Add flour and knead until smooth and elastic. Let rise about 1 hour.

  4. While dough is rising, mix 2 cups warm water with 2 T. baking soda. Stir often.

  5. After dough has risen, divide into 12 parts. Roll out into long thin ropes, 1/2 inch or less in diameter. Shape into pretzels and dip into soda solution.

  6. Place on greased baking sheet. Allow pretzels to rise again. (half hour??) Sprinkle with salt if desired.

  7. Bake at 450 x 8 minutes or until golden. Brush with more butter if desired, and add salt here if desired, instead of previous step. Or brush with butter and dip in cinnamon and sugar mixture.
