Asian culture is about finding balance in every aspect of life to achieve the greatest happiness, health, and harmony possible. In Asian cooking, many different ingredients are purposely combined to perfectly balance hot, cool, salty, sweet, and spicy flavors to create dishes that not only maintain balance in taste, but also help to maintain balance throughout the day. Asian flavors are also perfect for combining any vegetable with protein like chicken or mushrooms.

Recipe Ingredients for Asian Stir-Fry

2 cup Rice, White, Medium-grain, Cooked
1 stalk, medium (7-1/2" - 8" long) Broccoli
2 serving Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 carrot Carrots
16 oz Water
3 tbsp Soy Sauce
4 clove Garlic
2 tsp Ginger Root
16 oz Kale
1 medium Onions
0.5 tsp Pepper, Black
1 tsp Pepper, Red Or Cayenne

Recipe Directions for Asian Stir-Fry

  1. Chop the garlic into very small pieces. Coarsely chop the onion. Peel the ginger and then chop into very small pieces.

  2. Wash the broccoli and greens very well and then shake to dry. You may have to wash the greens again if they are sandy.

  3. Peel the carrot and grate using the large holes on a grater, or chop into small pieces. Coarsely chop the greens, and cut the broccoli into bite-sized pieces.

  4. In a rice cooker or pot, begin cooking the rice (about 20 minutes until ready).

  5. In a pot large enough to hold all of the vegetables, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and dried red chili and stir regularly until they become slightly golden in color. Add the ginger and garlic and cook for 1 minute.

  6. Begin adding the greens in large handfuls, mixing it well with the onions. Cook until they have wilted, and then add the next bunch. Continue doing this until all of the greens have been added.

  7. Add the broccoli and stir-fry it until it is bright green and tender, about 3-4 minutes.

  8. Add the carrots and mix them in well with the rest of the vegetables.

  9. When the rice is done, add it to the vegetables and mix well to combine the rice. Finally, add the soy sauce and pepper.
