Small corncakes orginally from Venezuela. Usually served at special areperķas. They are stuffed with all manner of fillings like a sandwich.

Recipe Ingredients for Arepas

4 tbsp Cornmeal

Recipe Directions for Arepas

  1. Use PAN Harina (cornmeal), water, salt and olive oil. For every two and a half cups of warm water, two cups of harina pan is needed. This amount yields about 5 arepas. Shape pieces of the dough like hamburger buns!

  2. Fry in pan with meadium heat around 5 minutes on each side with olive oil or butter. It is possible to just put in the oven also (400 F) for 15-20 minutes. They are ready when they sound lightly hollow when tapped.

  3. Serve with anything. Cheese, just butter, chicken etc.
