Is this dish better as a dip for fresh fruits, such as strawberries, bananas, and apple slices, or as a sauce over angel food cake? Try it both ways and decide for yourself.

Recipe Ingredients for Apricot Dip

1 c orange juice
1/2 c dried apricots
1/2 c applesauce
1/4 t cinnamon
2 dashes nutmeg
8 oz vanilla yogurt

Recipe Directions for Apricot Dip

  1. In a small nonaluminum saucepan, stir together the orange juice and apricots. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat and bring to a simmer, stirring frequently. As the apricots become tender, mash them with the back of a wooden spoon. Simmer for about 20 minutes, or until all the liquid is absorbed. Transfer to a medium bowl.

  2. Stir in the applesauce, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cover and let cool.

  3. Stir the yogurt into the cooled mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
