A tangy applesauce to serve with meats, specifically pork.

Recipe Ingredients for Applesauce for Meats

2 apples
1/2 cup sherry wine
1/2 cup low sodium chicken broth
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 1/2 teaspoons packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water

Recipe Directions for Applesauce for Meats

  1. Pour the wine into a pan; best to use a pan that has just browned meat. Bring to a simmer while scraping the browned bits of food off of the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon.

  2. Simmer for 2 minutes, then add the apples, chicken stock, vinegar, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and nutmeg. Cook and stir until the apples are tender, about 10 minutes.

  3. Blend the sauce with an immersion blender or in a conventional blender. Return to pan. Mix cornstarch in with 2 tbsp water and stir into the sauce to thicken. Cook and stir 1 minute.
