Be forewarned: this stuff will make your whole house smell delicious! modification: I used homemade applesauce instead of unsweetened from a jar. It had a LOT of spice already in it. So if you use regular unsweetened applesauce, double the brown sugar (which I halved) and flavor with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Recipe Ingredients for Applesauce Bread

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
1 cup unsweetened applesauce

Recipe Directions for Applesauce Bread

  1. Combine dry ingredients (through salt).

  2. Whisk together eggs and brown sugar.

  3. Gradually whisk in melted butter.

  4. Stir in apple sauce.

  5. Fold in flour mixture, just to moisten.

  6. Pour into a well greased loaf pan, and bake at 350deg for 1 hour.
