Applesauce spice bars, without the caramel frosting

Recipe Ingredients for Applesauce Bars

2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup water
2 cups applesauce
1 egg
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup raisins

Recipe Directions for Applesauce Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour 15x10x1 jelly roll pan.

  2. Sift all dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl.

  3. Add oil, water, applesauce and egg. Beat 4 minutes with an electric mixer on medium.

  4. Gently fold in nuts and raisins.

  5. Pour into prepared pan and bake 30 minutes. Cool in pan.

  6. Frost in pan (if desired) and cut into 48 bars.
