Recipe Ingredients for Apple and Walnut Scones

1 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Unbleached
1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
3 tsp Sugars, Granulated
1/4 cup Sugars, Granulated
3 tsp Baking Powder
3/4 tsp Salt, Table
254 grams Becel Regular Margarine
1 large Egg, Whole
1/2 cup Milk, Lowfat, Fluid, 1% Milkfat
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract, Imitation, No Alcohol
165 g Apple
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 bag Walnuts Chopped
1 large Egg, White

Recipe Directions for Apple and Walnut Scones

  1. In large bowl combine flours, 1/4 cup sugar,baking powder, ground cinnamon and salt. Cut in margerine(or butter).

  2. In small bowl, whisk the egg, milk and vanilla; add to crumb mixture. Stir in nuts and chopped apple until just moistened.

  3. Turn out onto a floured surface, knead 6-8 times. Pat into and 8 inch circle; cut into 16 wedges and place 2 inches apart on a greased sheet.

  4. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with remaining sugar(1 tbsp). Bake at 375 degrees for 18-22 min. or until lightly brown. Serve warm.
