2 medium (3") Apples
2 tsp Sugars, Granulated
1 tsp Cinnamon, Ground
8 large Egg, Whole
24 oz 1% Low Fat Milk
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
6 slice Bread, Whole-wheat, Commercially Prepared
9.6 oz Sausage Crumbles
8 serving Fancy Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese

Recipe Directions for apple sausage breakfast casserole

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Toss apples with sugar and cinnamon; set aside.

  2. 2. Beat eggs, milk and vanilla in large bowl with wire whisk until well blended. Add bread cubes, sausage and 1 1/2 cups cheese and apple mixture; stir gently until evenly coated.

  3. 3. Spoon into lightly greased 13x9-inch baking dish; top with remaining 1/2 cup cheese.

  4. 4. Bake 40-45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting into 12 squares to serve.

  5. 5. Serve with warm maple syrup.
