Recipe Ingredients for apple pie wontons

2 fuji apples
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
2.33 servings wonton wrappers

Recipe Directions for apple pie wontons

  1. Finely chop apples. (I kept the skin on, you might peel them.)

  2. Combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt in a cold pot. Add 1/2 cup water, stir til dissolved.

  3. Stir in apples. Cook over medium-high heat for 7 - 10 minutes, or until soft. Stir frequently.

  4. Mash cooked apples in the pot with whatever tool you want. I used a pastry cutter. You don't want apple sauce, but nice chunks.

  5. Prepare wontons, 8 at a time. Spray baking sheet with nonstick spray of your choice. Lay out eight wrappers. Trace the edge of each with water.

  6. Place 1 tablespoon of cooked apple mixture in the middle of each wonton. Fold over and pinch the edges together.

  7. Repeat wonton prep and filling process until you're out of filling. This made 18 wontons for me.

  8. Spray finished wontons with spray, sprinkle a little sugar on top of each.

  9. I froze the wontons at this point. But when I'm ready to eat them, I'll bake them in a 350 degree oven until they are brown. Probably 10 minutes or so, but I'll keep my eye on them.
