Recipe Ingredients for Apple pie

2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
4 tbsp water
1/2 cup lard
2 tbsp unsalted butter
6 cups apple, peeled, cored, and sliced
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon, ground
1/8 tsp nutmeg, ground
1 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp cornstarch

Recipe Directions for Apple pie

  1. Mix flour and salt, cut in with pastry knife lard and 2 Tbs. butter. Add water and form ball. Divide dough in half flatten to 1/2 inch disk. refrigerate 1 hour then roll and fill pie pan.

  2. Meanwhile pare apples. Add salt, sugar, spices, and cornstarch. Pour into prepared pie shell. dot with remaining butter and cover with upper crust.

  3. Bake in preheated 450 degree oven for 10 minutes. reduce heat to 350 and continue baking 35 minutes.
