Recipe Ingredients for apple pie oatmeal

1/2 cup rolled oats
1 cup water
1 medium apple, diced
1/2 cup applesauce
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp dark brown sugar
1 tbsp orange juice

Recipe Directions for apple pie oatmeal

  1. Bring a cup of water to biol in a small sauce pan.

  2. stir in oats and reduce heat to medium- medium- low.

  3. AFter oats have absorbed much of the water and have thickened, add apple, applesauce, cinnamon and nutmeg ( you can also add orange juice and/or fresh orange juice and zest)

  4. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer until apples are tender.

  5. take pot off burner and let sit for a few minutes so the oatmeal can set.

  6. Spoon into a serving bowl and stir in brown sugar and orange juice if you havnt done so already. i will stress not adding or using artififcal sweetners

  7. Note: when a pad of butter is added, it REALLY tastes like warm apple pie.
