Recipe Ingredients for apple pie bar

2 1/2 cup flour
1 cup cold butter
2/3 cup milk
10 apples
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/3 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup powdered sugar
2 teaspoons butter
1 tablespoon half and half

Recipe Directions for apple pie bar

  1. cut butter into flour

  2. mix egg yolk and milk with a fork then stir into flour until pulls away from sides of bowl. The dough will be soft and slightly sticky.

  3. Cut dough in half and roll into crust for 11x 13 jelly roll pan. ( it is best to wash counter top with damp cloth, place plastic wrap on damp counter several inches longer then needed. Place dough in center and lightly pat out. Cover with second piece of plastic wrap and roll out with rolling pin) place dough in pan

  4. Next, peel core and slice apples thinly and place on dough. Sprinkle with sugar that has cinnamon and nutmeg stirred together.( I like to sprinkle the cinnamon directly on the apples)

  5. Roll out second half of dough and place on top of apples

  6. Wash the top with the left over egg white that has been beaten with a fork until foamy.

  7. Back at 350 for one hour, top will be crisp and lightly brown.

  8. Mix powdered sugar butter, half and half until soft the texture of frosting.

  9. drizzle over warm bars

  10. cut into 35 pieces (5x7)
