Makes 6 servings



Dates and applesauce sweeten the bars. They don't need sugar. I use old fashioned oats for a chewy bar. Medjool dates are very sweet. Look for them at health food stores. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, and or clove.

Recipe Ingredients for Apple Oat Breakfast Bars

1/2 c whole wheat flour
1/2 c dates
1/4 c water
1 c unsweetened applesauce
1 1/2 c Oats
1/3 c chopped pecans
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Recipe Directions for Apple Oat Breakfast Bars

Cut and pit dates. Place in saucepan and add water. simmer until soft. Mix all ingredients together. The batter will be more like a dough. Spread in 9X9" pan and bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
