Recipe Ingredients for Apple Nut Bread

5/8 c water
1 1/2 tbsp butter
1 1/4 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 c bread flour
3/4 c whole wheat flour
1 tsp yeast
1 tsp apple pie spice
1 c apple, chopped
1/4 c pecans, chopped

Recipe Directions for Apple Nut Bread

  1. Add all ingredients to bread machine in order except the apple pie spice, apples and pecans.

  2. Begin dough cycle.

  3. When first rise is completed, remove dough from machine. Roll into a rectangle on a lightly buttered surface.

  4. Brush with a little butter. Sprinkle spice, apples and pecans over dough.

  5. Roll jelly roll style. Pinch to seal. Place seam side down and with ends folded in a loaf pan sprayed with nonstick spray.

  6. Let rise again.

  7. Bake in oven preheated to 450 for 10 minutes then reduce heat to 350. Bake 30 more minutes.

  8. Remove from oven and turn out of pan. Bread is done if you "thump" the bottom and it sounds hollow. Let cool on it's side for better slicing.

  9. If you prefer, the whole process can be completed in the bread machine. Choose the "fruit and nut" cycle or basic cycle. Add apples, nuts and spices when the machine signals or during the second kneading.
