semi healthy - you can make it better by using less butter in the crust - I probably could have managed with a 1/4 cup, or just plain less crust. That is my favorite part though

Recipe Ingredients for Apple Crisp

4 large apples
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 tsp white sugar
2 tbsp packed brown sugar
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/8 cup flaxseed meal
1/8 cup walnuts
1/8 cup flour
1/8 cup whole grain flour
1/8 cup butter, unsalted
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Apple Crisp

  1. peel, core and slice apples

  2. toss with lemon juice (I added the zest too), white sugar and 1/2 the cinnamon and nutmeg

  3. place apples in a baking dish

  4. mix the rest of the ingredients together, adding the butter last and breaking it in by hand until no large chunks remain

  5. sprinkle topping over apples and press down
