A lower carb (less sugar) variation of an old favorite

Recipe Ingredients for Apple Crisp

4 apples, tart cooking apples,sliced (4 cups)
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup oatmeal
3 tbl butter or margarine, softened
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup apple juice

Recipe Directions for Apple Crisp

  1. 1. Heat oven to 375 F. Grease bottom and sides of 8-inch square pan with shortening.

  2. 2. Spread apples in pan. In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients except cream until well mixed; sprinkle over apples.

  3. 3. Bake about 30- 45 minutes or longer until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with fork.

  4. 4.Usually Add 1/4 cup apple juice to moisten last 15 minutes of cooking.

  5. Serve warm with cream.
