Apple Chutney - A great accompaniment to curry, and cheaper than buying mango chutney. Try making with mangoes, too!

Recipe Ingredients for Apple Chutney

1/8 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. raisins
1/4 t. salt
1/4 c. onion, chopped
1 clove garlic
1 T. ginger
1/2 g. pickling spices
1/4 t. cinnamon
1/3 c. cider vinegar
1/2 c. apple, peeled and diced

Recipe Directions for Apple Chutney

  1. Combine brown sugar, raisins, slat, onions, garlic and ginger (preserved) in heavy pot. Tie pickling spices and cinnamon in spice bag and add to kettle. Stir in vinegar. Heat, stirring constantly, to boiling. Simmer, stirring often, 1 hour. Stir in apples. Simmer 30 minutes longer, or until mixture is very thick.

  2. This keeps well in the refrigerator, or it may be canned.
