Australian & New Zealand biscuit to commemorate the Anzacs in WWII

Recipe Ingredients for Anzac Biscuits

1 cup rolled oats
1 cup plain flour
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup coconut
125 g butter
2 tbsp golden syrup
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp boiling water

Recipe Directions for Anzac Biscuits

  1. Combine oats, sifted flour, sugar and coconut.

  2. Combine butter and golden syrup and stir over gentle heat until butter is melted. Mix soda with boiling water and add to the melted butter mixture. Stir into dry ingredients.

  3. Take teaspoonfuls of mixture and place on lightly greased oven tray allowing room for spreading. Cook in slow oven for 20 minutes or until golden in colour. Loosen while warm, then cool on trays.

  4. Makes about 35 biscuits.
