Anzac Biscuits Recipe

These biscuits were made to last a while and be posted overseas to the Australian and New Zealand troops fighting on the front lines of Gallipoli in 1915. Hence the name ANZAC. Australian New Zealand Army Corps.

Recipe Ingredients for ANZAC Biscuits

1/2 cup Sugars, Granulated
100 grams Butter
1 tbsp Lyle's Golden Syrup
53 grams Coconut Meat, Dried (Desiccated), Not Sweetened
3/4 cup Oats, Rolled, Regular Old Fashioned
3/4 cup Flour, All Purpose
1 tsp Baking Soda

Recipe Directions for ANZAC Biscuits

  1. 100g butter

  2. 1 tbsp golden syrup

  3. Melt in a large pan then cool

  4. In a bowl mix

  5. 1/2 cup sugar

  6. 3/4 cup coconut

  7. 3/4 cup rolled oats (whole)

  8. 3/4 cup plain baking flour

  9. Add to pot of butter and mix.

  10. Then mix 1 tbsp boiling water with 1 tsp baking soda. Mix this into pot.

  11. Roll Tbspoons of mix into balls and place on a greased oven tray. Flatten very slightly. Bake at 175 C for 15 mins or until golden. Light golden = chewy darker = crunchy. I like chewy ones.

  12. Makes 12 large or 36 small(if rolled into tsps, these ones don't get flattened). Calories are for large.
