Recipe Ingredients for Amish Banana Muffins

1/4 cup applesauce
2 large ripe bananas
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup white sugar
1/3 cup white sugar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour

Recipe Directions for Amish Banana Muffins

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease 2 - 9x5 inch loaf pans.

  2. 2. In a large bowl, mash together the shortening and bananas, then stir in the starter, eggs, milk, sugar, and walnuts. Sift together the baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour. Fold into the banana mixture. Divide batter evenly into the prepared muffin pan.

  3. 3. Bake in preheated oven for 25minutes or, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the muffins comes out clean. Cool muffins until they loosens evenly from the pan, about 10 minutes, before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
