Recipe Ingredients for amaretto pecan strawberry shortcake

2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup milk
3 tbsp orange zest
2 cups whipping cream
1/2 cup pecans
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
5 tbsp. amaretto
6 cups strawberries
1/4 cup powdered sugar

Recipe Directions for amaretto pecan strawberry shortcake

  1. In a bowl stir together sliced berries, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tbsp. orange sext, and 3 tbsp. amaretto. Let stand until strawberries juice

  2. In a medium bowl stir together flouw, ground pecans, 1/4 cup sugar, and baking powder. Using pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. In a small bowl combine egg, milk, 2 tbsp. amaretto and 2 tbsp. orange zest; add flour mixture all at once. Stir until just moistened. Drop dough into 8-10 mounds on an ungreased baking sheet; flatten mounds until they are about 3/4' thick. Bake in a 450 degree oven for 7-8 minutes or until golden. Transfer to a wire rack; cool about 10 minutes.

  4. Place whipping cream in a chilled mixing bowl. Beat on low and increase as cream thickens. Add powdered sugar after soft peaks form in the cream. Continue to whip until stiff peaks form.

  5. Place one shortcake on a plate, top with 1/2 cup of strawberry mixture and a heaping dollop of sweetened whipped cream. Garnish with a whole strawberry, orange zest, or sprinklw with ground pecans. Serve immediately
