Indian breakfast dish made with rice flakes, peas, and potatoes and spice

Recipe Ingredients for alooh muttar poha

200 grams rice, flakes
800 grams water (for rehydrating rice flakes)
1 1/2 cups potatoes, diced
1 1/2 cup peas
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cumin, ground
1/2 teaspoon red pepper, ground
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon turmeric, ground
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Recipe Directions for alooh muttar poha

  1. Put rice flakes (thick poha) into bowl and add water. Make sure flakes are completely submerged and let sit.

  2. Peel and dice potatoes, and add to saute pan with .5 teaspoon salt and .25 teaspoon turmeric

  3. Cook potatoes covered on med-low heat for 7 minutes

  4. While waiting for potatoes, strain water from rice flakes and shake to remove excess water (should be no hard flakes left, feel to be sure)

  5. Add remaining spices to rice and mix together thoroughly. Set aside.

  6. Add thawed peas to potatoes and stir to incorporate.

  7. Mix in seasoned rice flakes.

  8. Once all is incorporated, add lemon as you desire over the top and toss.

  9. Serve with saav.
