Southern Style with a bit of added sweetness.

Recipe Ingredients for Almost Southern Cornbread

288 grams Yellow Corn Meal
4 tbsp Canola Oil
4 tbsp Unsalted Butter
10 grams Organic Cane Sugar
2 cup Cultured, Pasteurized
1/4 cup Organic Brown Rice Flour
2 large, Eggs
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 tsp Kosher Salt

Recipe Directions for Almost Southern Cornbread

  1. Preheat cast iron skillet in 450 degree oven. Add oil and heat for 5 minutes.

  2. Toast corn meal in 450 degree oven until golden and fragrant.

  3. Whisk together toasted corn meal and buttermilk.

  4. Reserve 1 tbsp butter oil and add the rest to corn meal mixture.

  5. Add sugar, eggs, salt, baking soda and powder to mixture and whisk until mixture resembles pancake batter.

  6. Replace tbsp butter oil i pan then add mixture.

  7. Heat for 12-16 minutes, until bread begins to crack.
