Old Original All Bran muffin recipe

Recipe Ingredients for All Bran Muffins

4 1/2 cups All Bran
1 1/3 cups boiling water
3 cups buttermilk
4 eggs
3/4 cup canola oil
3 3/4 cups flour
2 1/4 cups sugar
3 3/4 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoons salt
2 cups walnuts
12 dried apricots
6 dates

Recipe Directions for All Bran Muffins

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

  2. Combine and stir well the All Bran and the boiling water

  3. Let stand

  4. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, eggs and oil, then add the sugar

  5. Combine and sift together flour, baking soda and salt

  6. Combine All Bran mixture and liquid ingredients

  7. Add flour mixture and stir just until flour is incorporated (Do not over mix or the muffins will not have the right texture)

  8. Bake in greased muffin pan in pre-heated oven at 400 degrees F for 18-20 minutes.
