Recipe Ingredients for Aamti, dixit style

2 cups pigeon peas, raw
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tomato, finely chopped
1 cup cilantro leaves, finely chopped
1 tbsp ginger paste
9 cloves garlic
2 serrano peppers
1 tsp salt
1 tsp raw sugar
1 tbs turmeric powder
1 tbs paprika
1 tbs cumin powder
1 tbs coriander powder
1 tbs canola oil

Recipe Directions for Aamti, dixit style

  1. Make daal the usual way.

  2. Heat the oil, add the chopped garlic to it and let it brown then add the onions, peppers, ginger paste salt and sugar. Once the onions look cooked enough add the spice powders. Saute it for a minute so that the powders mix with the rest of the stuff. Add the tomatoes now and let them cook till they make a pasty mix in the pot. Once cooked, add the daal and cilantro leaves and bring it to boil.
