Ice-box dessert with chocolate & vanilla pudding, cream cheese & cool whip

Recipe Ingredients for 4 Layered Dessert (original recipe)

1 1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cup chopped pecans
8 oz cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
2 1/10 oz chocolate instant pudding
2 1/10 oz instant vanilla pudding
4 cups milk
2 tsp vanilla
16 oz Cool Whip

Recipe Directions for 4 Layered Dessert (original recipe)

  1. Layer 1 - the crust: (Preheat oven to 350 degrees)

  2. ? 1.5 cup flour

  3. ? 1 cup chopped pecans

  4. ? 3/4 cup butter (My mother-in-law swears that for the crust to be good the butter must have 100 calories per serving)

  5. Mix together the ingredients for the crust. Press into the botton of a 9 x 13 pan. Bake in oven at 350 degree for 20 minutes. Allow crust to cool completely before filling with the other ingredients

  6. Layer 2

  7. Mix together 8 oz of cream cheese with 1 cup of powdered sugar - spread over cooled crust

  8. Layers 3 & 4 (Directions are the same for each - it does not matter which layer is 3rd or 4th. I did chocolate then vanilla)

  9. Use one large packet of instant vanilla pudding and one package of instant chocolate pudding.

  10. Follow package directions except:

  11. ? add 1/2 tsp vanilla &

  12. ? reduce each by one cup of milk and replace with one cup of Cool Whip

  13. Top with Cool Whip and more chopped pecans
