24 Hour Oil & Vinegar Coal Slaw Recipe

Recipe Ingredients for 24 Hour (Oil & Vinegar) Coal Slaw

2 lbs Cabbage
2/3 cup Vegetable Oil
2/3 cup White Vinegar
1/3 cup Sugar (up to 2/3 Cup of Sugar if you like it sweeter)
2 tbls Garlic Powder
1 tbls Ground Mustard
1 tbls Celery Seed

Recipe Directions for 24 Hour (Oil & Vinegar) Coal Slaw

  1. Shredded the Cabbage around 1/8" wide and up to around 2 to 3 inches long.

  2. Spread Garlic, Mustard and Celery Seed on top of the shredded Cabbage. Bring Oil, Vinegar and Sugar to a boil until all sugar is dissolved. Poor liquid mixture over Cabbage and toss around so that everything is coated.

  3. After cooling, cover and place in Refrigerator for 24 Hours.

  4. Optional: You may want to toss the shredded Cabbage around every few hours.

  5. Note: After Refrigerating for 24 hours, the Coal Slaw will reduce down to about 2-1/2 quarts
