Recipe Ingredients for 15 Bean Soup

10 oz 15 Bean Soup
1 serving Pecan smoked country sausage
0.25 cup, chopped or diced Onions
6 clove Garlic
1 tsp Salt, Table
2 tsp Paprika
1.5 tsp Pepper, Red Or Cayenne
2 dash Pepper, Black

Recipe Directions for 15 Bean Soup

  1. Pour half the bag of 15 bean soup in a large bowl with water to at least two inches over the beans, and let soak overnight. Drain the water from the beans, rinse them, then pour them in a pot with two quarts of water. Let this simmer for an hour, stirring occassionally.

  2. Meanwhile, cut the sausage thinly so you have at least ten pieces. Then mince the garlic cloves and onions. Spray a bit of canola oil in the bottom of a frying pan and cook the onions, garlic, and sausage together on medium heat until the sausage has browned a bit.

  3. After the beans have simmered for an hour, add the salt, cayenne, paprika, and pepper to the beans. WARNING: If the water is hot enough, the pepper will react in a way that might make you cough a bit. If this happens, just turn down the heat and step away for a couple of minutes until it runs its course. Once that is done, you can taste it to see if you want to add any more spices.

  4. Let simmer for another fifteen minutes, then add the sausage, onions, and garlic you have already cooked.

  5. Let simmer for another fifteen minutes then serve.
