1 homemade cabbage roll - Danish style

Recipe Ingredients for 1 Danish cabbage roll with gravy

2 lbs ground beef
2 tbsp milk, 1%
2 tbsp bread crumbs
1 large egg
1/2 head of cabbage
2 tbsp salt
2 tbsp pepper
3 tbsp cornstarch

Recipe Directions for 1 Danish cabbage roll with gravy

  1. Place head of cabbage into hot water in sink

  2. Mix ground beef with milk, bread crumbs, egg, 1 tbsp salt and 1 tbsp pepper.

  3. Peel 12 leaves off of softened cabbage

  4. Dividing meat into 12 portions, wrap each portion into 12 cabbage leaves.

  5. Place into a large roasting pan and add enough water to half way up each cabbage roll.

  6. Roast in oven at 400 for approx. 30 minutes.

  7. After 30 minutes, take lid off and place a small amount of butter on each cabbage roll. Put back in oven until browned.

  8. Remove water from cabbage rolls and put in pot to make gravy. Bring to a boil and add cornstarch and 2 tbsp salt and 1 1/2 tbsp pepper until thickened.

  9. Serve cabbage rolls with gravy.
