Michelle May, M.D., a physician and recovered yoyo dieter, is the founder of the proven Am I Hungry?® Mindful Eating Workshops. She is the award-winning author of Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat: How to Break Your Eat-Repent-Repeat Cycle.
Dr. May advises organizations and inspires audiences to adopt sustainable, healthy lifestyles. She has trained over 400 health and wellness professionals to facilitate Am I Hungry?® Mindful Eating Workshops worldwide.
Her interest in mindful eating stems from her own personal struggle with food, disordered eating, and negative body image. After years of chronic yo-yo dieting she finally resolved her own weight issues by developing a healthy relationship with her body and the food and activity that nurture it. Her primary goal has been to share what she has learned with others using a compassionate and constructive approach.
Dr. May has been featured on the Discovery Health Channel, Dr. Oz, Oprah Radio, and has been quoted in Fitness, Health, Glamour, Parents, Self, TIME.com (named as one of the Top 10 Notable New Diet Books for 2010), US News and World Report, Vim & Vigor, WebMD, Woman's Day, and many others. Michelle must practice what she preaches in order to balance her personal and professional life while maintaining her own optimal health. She cherishes her relationships with her two college-age children, Tyler and Elyse, and regularly enjoys hiking and yoga. She and her husband, Owen, a chef, share a passion for gourmet and healthful cooking, wine tasting and traveling.
