How's T's new daycare treating all of you, pavvy?

She was excited to go this morning.  A little shy and wanted to hold my hand walking in (but didn't insist on being carried), but immediately ran over to the art easel and started drawing.  It was a different caregiver than she had last week, but she was fine with her (she'd met her during our visit, at least).

This will be her first time being there all day, so I'm anxious to hear how nap time and the afternoon goes.

This sounds really good, Pav!  I'm really happy that this seems to be working out for you guys!

Day 2 of the new daycare for Tess.

Today she told me four times on the drive in "I don't want Miss Donna" (that was the caregiver at the old daycare).  I was happy to be able to tell her, "You don't ever have to see Miss Donna again!"

I stayed for about 30 minutes and she spent the whole time hopping up and down and painting pictures.  Yesterday it was the same except it was the water table she was engrossed in.  She barely registered the fact that I was leaving.  :D

Yaaay, Tess and Pavvy!!!

Oh, I missed this!  That's awesome, Pav!!  So glad this place is a better fit for her!  Phooey on Miss Donna.

Plus we have a billing going out this weekend, so we have to make sure everything's in first.  Don't want to send bills to people who have already paid.  They tend to get testy about that.

It usually isn't quite this bad, but September through mid-December, and April through June are our really busy times.  People tend to forget that business picks up, so everyone's rushing to get everything in at the end of September.

Most departments gave me half of their stuff to go in for the month on the 28th.

How's everyone doing?  We're in the middle of our month-end close... so... busy.  I did 10-11 hour days almost every day this week.  Super excited to not do that again today.

We don't really get trick-or-treaters... we're in an apartment house, though, so I guess that kinda makes sense.  I'd get candy for the few that walk around the apartment house, but I'm afraid we won't get any then, and I'll be stuck with it.

My parents used to get them, but there aren't too many kids in their neighborhood anymore, so they only get them super early in the evening.

*steps up to bulletin board with small note, "windows 10 sucks"*

It has been a hellish couple of days..

I think everything is back to normal...

Plus side, it sucks less than Windows 8...  Sorry you're having a rough couple of days.

I mean, in general, I do think it's cool that he's doing this stuff.  But I don't really want to be anywhere near the crowds that gather for these kinds of things.

Same reasons I avoid Manhattan when they drop the ball for New Year's.  I'd rather watch it on TV than stand waiting for 6 hours (you can't get near enough to see it if you aren't early) without real access to restrooms, etc.  Plus, being my height makes crowds kinda suck.  I'm roughly armpit level for a lot of them.

It hasn't been too insane by me... A little bit more crowded, but nothing I haven't seen around the holidays.  Of course, I was also stuck at work until 8:30 last night, and didn't leave the office all day, so I kinda missed the big rush.  He was at St. Patrick's yesterday, which is a few blocks from me, but that was much earlier in the day.

The Pope is doing his big thing at Madison Square Garden this evening.  I would really like to be home before that starts happening, as I think it's going to make the mid-town area a madhouse.  That is not looking likely, since we haven't even started the major business of the day yet, and there is about an hour and a half to two hours of work to get through before we even get to my part of it.

Boo.

I agree, Sammi, and I'd go so far as to say they're being defensive, or even punitive, at this point.  The director's email has that tone, unless I'm reading it incorrectly.  Tough to repair that attitude.

I was definitely getting that tone as well.  And not just from this response.  Some of her responses to the other concerns you've voiced struck me the same way, Pav.

I mean, she's basically throwing all of the blame on T for being "difficult"...  That irks me.

There are a few people on there that do licensed in-home daycare themselves, but nobody has actually recommended them - they just post sometimes that they have openings.  I suppose I could ask to meet them.

Do.  If they are licensed, you can find out if there are any complaints against them with the state.  And if you go interview a few, and see their childcare spaces and how they interact with you and Tess, you might be pleasantly surprised.

They should provide you with references as well.

Yeah, I think I'd probably go this route as well at this point.  Based on the little bit you've mentioned about the current daycare, it doesn't seem like a good fit, and it doesn't seem like they're willing to work with you and Tess to get to a point where they are meeting her needs.

How do you deal with two different taste profiles? Hubby likes his food decently spiced and me I'd rather go less. I think his food is way too heavily flavoured, and he thinks mine tastes like nothing.

I tell him to add spices after it's done, but he says it should stew with the food for a while. Two pots?

E and I have things like this sometimes, but he usually is ok with adding hot sauce or whatever to his after the fact.  I do like some heat myself, though, so it's not usually a problem either way.

yep...J and I are usually okay, too.  he likes his food a little saltier than me, but that's about it.

i'd probably go mid-ground and do one pot.  but I hate dishes...

I can deal with dishes if I'm cleaning them as I go.  I hate a sink full of dishes waiting at the end.
