Oh WOW Soraya, could it be as easy as cutting out soy? That would be awesome; good luck! Are you seeing it as daunting, or kind of exciting to find replacements? I know protein is a big deal for vegetarians. Finding new protein sources/recipes sounds kinda fun to me :)

Yesterday I ate 1455 calories (but missed all my favorite targets - vegetables, fiber and protein), got 9 cups of water and did core+kickboxing. This morning: 167.0. I've been aiming for about 1600 calories, but as I continue to be "moderately active" (even though it's only been a week ) the math says I should be closer to 1800.

Today we're going to Hops and Handrails - they built a snowboarding ramp in the park so there are tricks and like 50 beers to taste and live music. Then we're going to dinner after. Just gotta figure out how to navigate all that calorie-wise, but I think it will be fun. The weather is supposed to be amazing, like 77 and sunny ☼.

Hmmm tinac, for your height, weight and age, the math says that at Moderately Active, 1200 is about on target (1222). But something isn't working if you've been doing it for 6 months. There are a whole host of possible reasons for this, ranging from compromised metabolism or thyroid function to over-estimating what you eat.

Starting with the easiest one: do you log your calories (here or elsewhere)? If so, are you using a kitchen scale as much as possible, to get the most accurate counts? Oh hey, do you need new batteries in your scale? Just throwing out some ideas here :)

166.4 this morning. Ate 1633 calories yesterday and got my 8 cups of water. No workout yesterday. I didn't even walk around the building even though it was lovely out. Even nicer today! Today is Core+Kickboxing which will surely kick my butt.

Is it normal to be going along a losing weight then all of a sudden not lose any for about 10 days.  I've done nothing different??????

Yeah, it won't be linear. Your 1600 calorie deficits are not helping you any, way too high! Your safest bet is to aim for a 500 calorie deficit (possibly more if you are obese, but only up to 1000 max).

Looks like you've narrowed down exactly what you need to work on. That's a good step, Pavvy. You should also work on baking cakes and sending them to chatters. Jus sayin'

Thank you guys <3

I have an intellectual appreciation of myself, one step removed, because you guys are awesome and you wouldn't like me if I couldn't keep up with the awesomeness.  And when I do stuff like that one journal, I can see that I'm really quite amazing on paper.

I need to make the next step where my guts know it too and my subconscious and it's not an intellectual exercise to remember that I can be amazing.

Tell yourself in the mirror, every day, "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and dog-gonnit! people like me!"

Aw thanks Soraya :) And you get a pass for a while as you adjust to your new schedule and get comfortable with the new job. Then I'll start asking you where your workouts are. Oh I know, I love sleeping too :) Except for swim team in high school I've never been a morning workout person.

I'm liking this beginner's luck: 167.0 this morning! Ate 1736 calories yesterday, 8 cups of water, went to Yoga. Nothing on the workout schedule today but maybe I'll do a short walk outside if the weather is nice enough, just to help this soreness from Tuesday's workout. Tomorrow is Core+Kickboxing.

Weight Loss macros? Mar 26 2015

I think counting calories is more important than macros and really if you're going to watch macros and eat 1900, you're still counting calories.

I set my calorie target at 1908 (which is maintenance for my goal weight at light activity level - I'm considering it a max) so I'll tell you what CC calculated for me because that's close enough.

  • Carbohydrate 239g (50% of calories)
  • Protein 95g (20% of calories)
  • Fat 64g (30% of calories)

Somewhere in setup you can adjust the percentages if you want, and CC will display your targets in Analysis.

^^

I knew you'd get flack for this as soon as I read the title. Owl, quit giving vegetarians a bad name! Just kidding ♥

I'm not vegetarian but I second lentils. There are a lot of Indian dishes using lentils, but they can be pretty complex with a lot of ingredients. I'll sometimes just have lentils, quinoa, some frozen vegetables, a little olive oil and a some curry powder.

CircuitX wasn't too bad but I'm sore today. It was 45 second rounds of a bunch of exercises and I worked hard but didn't try to go nuts. Slow and good form, that's my motto :) Ate 1614 calories yesterday, 8 cups of water. Weight: 168.5.

Yoga later this morning and sticking to my calories. I cooked some brown rice last night. I like to fry it with vegetables, chicken and Mr. Yoshida's sauce, or add it to lentils, or put it in soup, so many options.

Happy Hump Day!

Claire, yup I went to yoga monday. I also finally weighed this morning and it was a bit of a shocker! 169.7 :O So I'm starting to log today - I just gotta. We'll feel so much better! YES, I think third time's a charm ♥

Soraya, so so glad to hear that you are happy in this gig! It's always great to learn new skills and build your resume. Yeah, it's been like a week so I'm not surprised you are still catching up ;) Can't beat good people and good pay. So GLAD for you! I think this weigh-in was an important smack in the head for me, and I'm ready to try and live up to Rock Star status :) Give yourself a chance to get used to your new schedule then start fitting in workouts and make new habits. ♥ you too, babe!

So, here we go again. Starting weight 169.7, goal weight 150. I'd like to get down to 150 then maintain 150-155 but I'm getting WAY ahead of myself :) I put 1908 as my calorie target, which is maintenance for my goal weight at Light activity. I do plan to be at least Moderately active, but I thought that was a good max. I'll aim for more like 1600. I have CircuitX and Core+Kickboxing on my calendar. After a week or two I plan to add weight lifting Wed evening and Saturday. And always Yoga Mon & Wed. That seems like kinda a lot but I'll work my way up. I plan to take it very easy at CircuitX today! :) I haven't worked up a sweat since before the Grand Cayman trip in November. OK, onward!

Soraya, how is the new job?!?! Tell us all about it!

Claire, we do, we DO want to be healthy! I am planning to go to Circuit X class tomorrow. If I can still move I'll go to core and kick boxing on Friday. Yoga Mon & Wed. I'm getting closer to logging, but not there yet :) Also not weighing. Oh hey, I have a plan for NROL, but haven't done it yet. I'm thinking Wed and Sat at home. But probably not this week - still easing into it.

Hi thedisappointment. We're just starting to scramble out of a bit of a slump.

I haven't tried it. In reality, your body is quite adept at cleansing itself. Another option is to set yourself up for success by cultivating healthy habits that you can maintain long term.

Soraya, I'm so impressed by your amazing workouts and dedication to them! And SO EXCITED about your great interview - that sounds like an amazing opportunity. Fingers crossed for you, hon.

Claire, we do want to be healthy? Are you sure? 'Cause I kinda like being lazy :) No, you're right - we do. WE DO! Spring is coming, a renewal of life and health and energy and happiness.

It may seem like it, but I haven't given up on re-starting my weight lifting program. I've decided my goal weight is 155 if I'm lifting, 150 if I'm not. I'm not excited about logging what I eat, but nothing else has ever worked. I need to figure out how to get excited about all this again.
